All the cool kids are talking about Franz Ferdinand these days. I certainly must say, (most of) the hype is certainly warranted. There are some really rockin' tunes on the debut LP. Highlights: "Jacqueline," "This Fire," "Come On Home," and the single "Take Me Out." There are more Realplayer and MP3 files here than you can shake a stick at:

(check out the "Take Me Out (For A Milkshake)" remix, a mashing of FF's "Take Me Out" and Kelis' "Milkshake." fun, fun, fun.)

Franz Ferdinand is really good, and I'm impressed by how universal they are! Everyone all over the place likes 'em. Actually I like a lot of new stuff from Domino Records.

There's a free mp3 of one of the tracks on the "Take Me Out" single too... It's the "Morgan Geist Reversion". This is from Fluxblog.

Weird. I heard two songs of them and I thought the singer dude couldn't sing at all, but the music was good. Must have gotten the bad songs...because he can.

Way ahead of you, dude. There's been a lot of MP3 blogs springing up lately -- just look at the growing list on Fluxblog -- and I think that it's absolutely great. It's something that I always felt was lacking in any kind of written review (be it music, movies, literature, etc.), just so you can see immediately what that person is talking about.

Yeah, I found out about Fluxblog from you! That and "Said the Gramophone" have been providing me with a ton of great music, so thanks again for the heads up. The new Leslie Feist tracks have really been getting me through a sucky day... But what's up with these mp3 blogs--I don't see how they can either be legal or avoid being shut down. Hrm.

Got the album...it's really very good. Best first track of any album in forever, really gets you in the mood.

Going to see 'em at the Troubadour tomorrow night, hooray!

Franz Ferdinand plays a live set on KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic. I was kinda upset that I missed them play at The Horseshoe last month, but this'll do just as well, I suppose. The raw, live sound seems to lend more energy to some of their tracks when compared to the album versions.

These guys rock. Been listening to them constantly for the past week. "Take me out" has incredible transitions that are just a joy to listen to. Very talented musicians these guys...
