As you'll have noticed I'm rather new on this forum (which I like a lot!) so I'll just start posting some of my recent stuff... in the hope to get some feedback!
For this short story (which is still a work in progress) I used a strange kind of creative tecnique, since I'm Italian I sometimes have a hard time to understand English lyrics in songs... some songs don't even make sense when I read them (is it me or is it the song). So, being me a creative mind I tend to fill in the gaps with my own immagination... the result is often very interesting... I decided to turn this into a creative tecnique to create stories, I listen to a song I can't understand and write down the things that I imagine could be what the author intended...
not sure what I sayd is really clear... anyway, here come the comic:

I like the all sepia treatment. It may need a bit more contrast here and there, but it's already ok as is.
The only thing I would change is the word balloon's "tail". I wouldn't drag it all the way to their mouths. It gives the impression the characters speak very...slowly. Unless that's what you want.

Curious to see more pages from you!

thanks for the feedback! glad you like my stuff... and yes... I pretty much like creepy stuff! about the contrast thig... I think you're right... I'll try to correct it a bit. and the thing you say about the balloons coming out of the mouth is interesting... I never percieved it that way, these kind of solutions are little experiments I make to see how things could work differently, but in fact the effect could be different from what I intended... but of coure these kind of things tend, by nature, to be very subjective... so maybe there cannot be a unique effect.
since you asked for some more... here is something I'm working on right now... it's not a finished page... needs some cleaning and maybe I'll redo some parts...anyway I'd be curious to see what you think of it!

Definitely a lot of talent here.

I agree with Nofret about the contrast and tails. But I enjoy your style. Was that first story just digital colors over pencils?

sorry I was so busy reading through all the old posts here that I forgot to check my own... anyway, yes it's just phoshop over pencils, I used some paper scans to create a more analogue effect.

and now for something completely different.
this is a cover illu for a short graphic novel I drew. It's been inspired by the film "forbidden planet", I guess you all know it... in fact the composition is very similar to the one of the original film-posters, I just put my character in there instead of Robby the Robot.
and btw... this is just digital colour. I made some pencils by hand to use as a base though.

Your style (the first two you posted) is reminisant of Charlie Adlard (the walking dead).

which is a good thing.

don't know his work on Walking Dead... still from what I remember I don't see a lot of parallels between me and him... what exacly reminds you of Adlard in my drawing? (this really interests me!)

Well, your line work is somewhat simmilar, but I think it's your compositions and layouts that remind me most of him. The tone/mood you set is also reminisant.

I really like your idea of using your interpretation of the song to inspire the story. Very creative!

will have to do some research on that... anyway thanks for the tip... it sometimes happens to me (but I think that relates to everybody) that somebody says: your stuff looks like mr.somebody, usually it's somebody I don't know... and it's usually a nice discovery
