Kazu, do you speak Japanese?
Kazu, I was just wondering if you spoke Japanese. That is so awesome if you can.
I figured I needed to post something because nothing has been going on in this par t of the forum for while. Haha.

You know what? I speak so little Japanese that I pretty much never use it. Although I was born in Tokyo, and Japanese was my first language, I also grew up in a family whose roots in America go back to the mid-1800's. My mother grew up in New York and speaks impeccable english. When we moved over here to the States, she pretty much stopped speaking to us in Japanese, so we never use it at my parents' house. My parents speak Japanese to each other, but never with the kids. I fully understand the language, but my Japanese is so bad I don't feel comfortable using it.

Well, that's all well and good for you decadent Yanquis, but us Canucks are a little more polite with our racial stereotypes. I for one would definitely like to be associated with a phallic, nutritional fruit.Kazu wrote:Kean, I think "Twinkie" is the appropriate terminology.
Errr...
(and Clio, I don't seem to be able to see the image you posted)
If this helps:
There is this local magazine called Banana. It's aimed a Asian-North Americans. The official site is down but I found a crappy geocities site with a couple of covers on it http://www.geocities.com/hello_tai_tai/banana.html
I always thought a twinkie was slang for teenage-girls-who-dress-all-slutty-and-are-full-of-themselves. A modern day valley girl. My sister was one, fortunately, she grew up!

Oh, you crazy CBCs. I don't qualify for that status on the grounds of being born in England -- and having grown up in Hong Kong, I'm the worst kind of banana. I can navigate my way around a conversation, but still...
Some of you might want to check out Banana Boys. It's not particularly deep or anything, but there are a few passages where you'll be (sadly) screaming "hey, that description fits me to a tee!"
