I just did these two t-shirt illustrations for Jon-Peter Lewis (he was on American Idol season 3). What do you think? Would you wear these?

Great drawings, especially the dragon one.

I've no idea who Jon Peter Lewis is so maybe I'm missing out on part of the humour, but from a pure design point of view I could imagine wearing the first as a t-shirt.

The second is a great character, but slightly too detailed to make a really strong shirt.

Those are great, the arts great, so is the text, and they look like they could easily be good shirts, but would I wear one? No way in hell.

I like them, and would wear them but only if JPL stood for Jet Proulsion Laboratory and not Jon-Peter Lewis.

Jon was a contestant on American Idol last year (not this last season but the one before.) He is finishing his first album and is going to go on tour. His official website is www.jplewismusic.com if anyone wants to find out who he is. I also made one more t-shirt but it is just typography and seeing as how I am an illustrator, I don't like showing just type. I would consider it boring to do on a constant basis.

Anyway, thanks for the critique. I prefer the first one also, but of course Jon prefers the second t-shirt. Any suggestions for improvement of the second one?

I'd like to see the type based design. I love type

For the second one, perhaps try losing some of the fine lines and stripping it back to two colours? I think its the simple rendering of the first that is so appealing.

I like both, with the exception of the faces. It feels like they (it) doesn't fit with the overall style.

This is the type only one. My wife helped me to understand that most girls wouldn't want a drawing of JPL on a shirt. (She also said that they prefer the words to go over their chest.)

I agree that the faces are a little out of place, but I needed to make sure they looked like him...
