Hiyas,

I stumbled onto this site by linkage and I must say I am looking forward to publication (it's too bad I'm not a publisher). As I live in Europe, I wonder, though: is Flight going to be shipped to the remote continent I live on? Else I'd have to go through all kinds of subterfuge.

that shouldn't have been a new post, rather in the question post. sorry, i am not often haunting messageboards, so the magic that is this forum is a bit beyond me.

Welcome to the forum, shojogirl!
no worries about the thread... the forum itself is for your questions to get answered about FLIGHT.

As Kazu has stated before in an earlier thread:

currently we aren't even a publication! Our first hurdle is to find the right publisher and get it printed, so any talk of submissions and all that jazz makes me a little uneasy. We'll just take it one step at a time...

So hopefully the right kind of publisher will be found. Then everyone will be able to get a copy..

plus, to further go into your question, i'm in no way involved with the production of FLIGHT, but i assume that since there are contributors to the publication who are based in europe, i wouldn't be suprised that it shows up there.

europe. remote. hehe. funny. :)

Lots of things I want from amazon.com do *not* ship to Europe! So yes, in a way it is remote. Also, we have no real hotdogs here, maple syrup is expensive and grade C and there are no marshmallows...the list goes on and on. Although this me doing the spoiled whine, considering you live in India, you are very right to laugh ^^

actually.. i get stuff from amazon.ca all the time from here... that's also because i'm originally from toronto, canada and i'm just in india studying till i finish... so my credit card gets charged to my parents back home.. they'll ship it to india but i have to pay through the nose at indian customs.. but it's worth it. ^^

there are some canadian sites such as chapters.ca for books which will ship to europe, as well as dvd box office for movies and such, but in the case of dvd box office, you have to send a fax of your billing address and credit card statement to them. not sure about chapters though.

*cough*

honestly though, i really can't speculate on anything regarding publication, and where it's going to be available.. but i would assume the "ideal" publisher isn't one stupid enough not to ignore a cashcow such as europe. Contributors such as Bengal are from france.. and to not even release work made by him would be completly idiotic in my mind.. so i wouldn't worry about it. :)

Hi shojogirl,

Stick is right. We'll know as soon as we work out a distribution plan with a publisher. Hopefully, we'll be working with one that plans on distributing the books internationally. I get a lot of e-mail from people in Europe that are interested in the book, so I assume we would find a nice audience over there. Thanks for dropping by the forums! :D

Dropping by you say? I'll have to rein myself in, I'm already overposting.

Stick - I have to pay lots for customs too, when I order from amazon.com (only on dvds, though). But books that are out of print are seldom shipped internationally and that is my problem.

@shojogirl:

I'm from Europe too (Luxembourg) but I don't have any problems of ordering books from Amazon US? Or are you just talking about rare and out of print book?

As for DVDs, I remember the 'old times' (couple of years ago) when I bought dozens of DVDs online in the US, finding coupons, using a certain website to order them through, so they would pay my shipping etc ... So a DVD only cost me about 5 or 6 dollars (h&s included!)!

Figuring all that out was even more fun than watching the DVDs
But of course all those websites filed for bancruptcy a long time ago ... and now the European Union collects taxes on goods bought in the US

But at least the dollar is cheap right now, hehe.

Don't know why I'm writing all this though

Anyway, this site rocks!
