From Pitchfork:

It just so happens that the soundtrack to The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie has quite a few familiar musical staples gracing its tracklist, including such indie favorites as Wilco ("Just a Kid", featuring vocal contributions from the band of Jeff Tweedy's son, Blisters), The Flaming Lips ("SpongeBob and Patrick Confront the Psychic Wall of Energy"), The Shins ("They'll Soon Discover"), Ween ("Ocean Man"), and those great child mentors Motörhead ("You Better Swim"). The songs are all new except for Ween's, as they, amusingly enough, already had a song appropriate for the film's obtuse theme, from their 1997 album Mollusk.
I am
so picking this up once it hits the bargain bins. It'll go great alongside my
Powerpuff Girls: Heroes and Villains CD (which has original tracks from the likes of Frank Black, Apples in Stereo, Shonen Knife, Devo...).
