I blame Sean of Said The Grammophone for hooking me on The Frames. Some pretty, pretty songs.

You might still be able to check out the MP3s on STG's site, but most of the songs from their albums can also be sampled from their music page (albeit in Real format. Icky.).

I'd heard of these guys before, maybe because they named an album after a Werner Herzog movie.. But yeah, they actually sound very nice. Thanks for the tip Kean.

[Don't mind me, I'm just going through the forum to see the lists of bands/artists already mentioned.]

The Frames! How interesting that they're mentioned here. I was just listening to one of their very earlier works from "Dance the Devil" (I believe that's the title of the release). I think they're quite strangely nice to listen to. As for their last release, I believe it was live? I haven't really heard anything new other than that.

the frames are one of my favorite bands right now. luckily for me, they play nyc pretty often, basically whenever they're in the country...and they ROCK live like no one else. oh man.

i think their live album, 'set list,' is downloadable. i don't usually recommend live albums for a first listen on any band, but in this case it's a pretty decent choice. although if you can obtain their studio albums, "for the birds" and "dance the devil" are nearly flawless.

You're in NYC as well? Each time they're around I never got to see them live. I have taken a listen to their other older releases prior to Dance the Devil and For the Birds (I forgot the title to the oldest release - I had borrowed it from someone). I think "Dance the Devil" is by far my favorite. They're huge in Ireland, and I had a friend who's from there and a big fan - which is how I discovered them.

oh man, that's too bad you keep missing them. they played a free show down at the seaport in, i think, june? my boyfriend dave is on their mailing list, so we always know when they're comin' around. perhaps i'll post it here next time they're playing--if you dig them on the stereo, you will LOVE them live.

Actually, I'm pretty sure they've been through here a couple of times in the past year. Actually remembering to catch one of their shows is another matter. :?

Even though I have a tendency to boast and exaggerate, I must tell you that I've seen the Frames play 3 times in the past 12 months and they have been the 3 of the best live shows I've ever been to. I can't even deal with how infectious, intense and passionate they are. It just makes me too excited.

Here is a photo from a show at Irving Plaza:

Yes! That's it! Haha! It was some crazy title. :) Yeah, I heard they were fantastic live by one of my old managers, who's a big fan of their's.

For your listening pleasure:

This is a live version of the song Fizcarraldo, off of The Roads Outgrown EP that is a really good sampler of Frames songs. There is some talking in the beginning.

Oh man I tried to get tickets for that Damien Rice show in NYC and they where sold out.

On the albums I like the fact that the have pretty songs. But live I like when they rock the fuck out :D
