Wow, look at that! Way to go, Jen. :D

I'm always really paranoid about this stuff, so bear with me, but should we get tickets in advance? He's pretty popular these days, and I'll just punch something if the show sells out.

And Joanna Newsom is ADORABLE.

Hehe, Joanna Newsom also lists "The Last Unicorn Soundtrack" by America as one of her favorite albums. She is a real cutie! And she can play a mean electric harp. She has a very charming Charo-like presence, and interesting jewelry. I almost tripped her by accident, but she was still quite affable.

Vera, I think everyone who wants to go should try to order a ticket in advance if they can. (I'm sure all those left coast hipsters are gonna be all over that show, and I have no idea what the size of the venue is.) I have to wait a bit; hopefully it'll be okay.

I'm excited that we have a totally awesome Flight field trip planned now. 8)

Sigh, little problem. It's a 21-and-over show. Unless this place is known for not carding Jen and I can't go. Crying, crying forever.

For everyone else, here's the ticketmaster link: http://www.ticketmaster.com/venue/81992

Ack!

Could we beg, plead, and get little stamps on our hands?

Okay.

Okay. So, Vera and I, admist our crying teenager fits, came up with the ultimate desperate plan: Swapping IDs with awesome folks.

We figure, if we can get someone close enough-looking, and dress in a variety of hats, scarfs, lipstick and eyeliner, MAYBE it'll work and we all can concert our hearts out as planned. Plus, it'll be in the evening and things might be bustlin' so maybe they won't pay so much attention.

Also, I'm asian, and ya'll know we all look alike.

Soooooooo.... We've got one or two leads already, but if anyone feels like supporting some teenage illegal activity, let us know? We'll be ever so grateful. So many knitted scarves and homemade cookies. <:)

Not to interrupt your ID swap discussion, I just wanted to pop in and say that I saw Avril Lavigne live this afternoon and well... I wasn't much of a fan, but seeing her live... she definitely can sing. I was quite impressed.

Coheteboy -
LoL, had to laugh. Not at you, but with your addition to the conversation.

Jen -
I'm down with helping underagers getting over on the man, especially young women.

Now older folks out their in this mission, what's our deal at the moment :?:

Son of a...

I completely forgot that the Iron & Wine show here in Toronto falls on the exact same day as the Toronto Comic Jam. And I told Hope that I'd be at this month's Jam to at least introduce her to people and stuff. But! Iron & Wine! Live!

Rrrrrgh. What the heck am I going to do? Stupid conflicting schedules.

So I ended up catching Sam Beam at his instore performance yesterday. It was a short set (just under 40 minutes), but it was real nice. I wish I had a camera on me, because the people at the front of the improvised stage were all sitting crosslegged and listening intently to his performance. They really looked like a bunch of kids listening to this gentle folk singer play to them, which was really neat.

The store was packed, and I was the last person to actually squeeze into the doorway, so I got a good view of him standing in the back, and managed to catch the breeze from the outside so I didn't have to deal with the heat inside the store that one person called "a folk rave."

Great performance on the whole, and he was pretty much playing whatever people asked him to. After the set, I ended up blabbering on to him about how his music is really great, and how I made a comic based on one of his songs, etc. etc. etc. You know, the usual make-an-ass-out-of-myself stuff.

Apparently the Iron & Wine show in my city a couple months ago also had everyone sitting crosslegged on the floor.

More concerts should involve not-standing-for-hours.

Hahah, i guess it depends on the venue. Most concerts I go to you pretty much stand the entire time for some reason. Yep, even at the Travis concert! But I guess I take it as a sign that the people love the music. If they sit during a concert, they're ready to fall asleep. But I do agree... sit for a little while at least!
