Mmmm. I'm looking forward to the Toronto leg of Lollapalooza. Morrissey, Sonic Youth, Le Tigre, Modest Mouse, Broken Social Scene, The Walkmen, Danger Mouse, The Datsuns, The Flaming Lips, Gomez, Wilco (!!!)...

I am foaming at the mouth already.

i am thinking about making a road trip to toronto for that. it would cost me ridiculous amounts of money and i dont think i even have any way to get up there, but i would kick myself for years if i missed such a concert.

they had a stop scheduled for my hometown, syracuse NY last summer, but ended up cancelling it at the last second due to low ticket sales. bastards.

Ah, I stand corrected. I had some misinformation... Iron & Wine won't be playing the Bowery Ballroom until late June. Anyhow, you're very lucky! Sufjan and Iron & Wine are the best new acts, recently.

Kazu, I'm very jealous! I can't believe you actually got to see the Pixies! *swoon* I've seen Death Cab for Cutie a couple times before, that's all.

And yeah, the new Lollapalooza is the best in years, it seems. Maybe I'll get to attend in CA...

On a different note, Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyers will be here in St. Louis on the 25th. I will feel bad if I don't go. BF will also be in Columbia, MO on the 16th of June, which would also be extremely cool.

Oh, also...
Did you get to see Snow Patrol, coheteboy? Some of the radio stations I like have been pushing them, and I like what I've heard...

Well, just wanted to note that I saw Wilco yesterday. It was a good show but a little overly crowded and hot. They played a good mix of stuff from Summerteeth, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot, and A Ghost Is Born, with just a bit of Being There (no A.M. though, i guess i can see why; it sounds different from the other stuff). It was a nice long show too--the "encore" was about half the performance. I put a couple tiny pictures on my website (sorry I was kinda far away).

No unfortunately I was too ill to go to it that night. But the album is like $8.99 at Target or Best Buy. I really like half of it a lot and only like the rest of it. So to me, that's a good buy.

Nice Phil! The Wilco show was free as well, so that was nice.

Johnny Mercury: The new stuff was excellent! Everybody was boppin' to "At Least That's What You Said," and there were some others I'm itching to hear again. Jeff Tweedy made a joke about how many times the album has been delayed, which I guess was sort of self effacing since he's fresh out of rehab. He seemed really confident that everyone will love it. 8) You can hear the new stuff streamed from Wilco's site... I think Kean posted a link somewhere.

Yes, the Folds/Guster/Wainwright should be a good show, although the version that makes it to my neck of the woods replaces Rufus with Gavin Degraw, which is slightly disappointing but still acceptable.

Saw the Stills last night in LA. They were suprisingly good, but while the guitars were heavier live, the vocals were looser. Overall enjoyable...even though I didn't like Sea Ray which was the opener. They have a great sound ruined by less than mediocre vocals.

Oh that's too bad! Have you heard them on CD? I really like their new first album, Stars At Noon.

I haven't heard their CDs. I'm going to look into them though...maybe it was just their live show mingled with less than stellar mixing that made me feel like the vocals weren't on par with the rest of their sound. It's probably a bad comparison, but they struck me as a folksy Godspeed You Black Emperor!

I think these aren't the strongest tracks on the album, but they're they only ones available for free online:

Sea Ray: "Revelry" (mp3)
Sea Ray: "Quiver" (mp3)

Just caught 311 live this afternoon for two songs and they put on a good act.... even though I'm not fond of their music because they all sound the same. But yah, it at least sounds good when it's live.
