This is something I use to do with my boys ‘n girls back in high school. Everybody picks one or two songs and posts them. The thread will eventually make one kick ass mix. It's a great way to turn people on to a band they might not know about.

Here's to hopeing this will work :D
I picked these songs because the chorus(s) are fun to sing out loud.

Neil Young - Ohio
Stone Temple Pilots - Creep

**EDIT: For those us in Canada...

Joseph Arthur - Dear Lord
Neil Finn - Driving Me Mad

They get stuck in my head quite easily.

I wouldn't get too excited about this. As it's mentioned in the article, uploading or distribution of copyrighted material online is still deemed to be illegal in Canada. It's simply that you can't be charged for owning a "personal copy" of this material on your hard drive.

And in the end, this is a point that is very open to a court's interpretation. It's just like how the legal age for consentual sex here in Canada is 14 years of age, but statutory rape is ruled more often than not in these cases that go to trial.

But I digress. Catchy songs? How about:

British Sea Power - Remember Me
Spoon - Back To The Life

Yeah, regarding that article... I think the law is, or should be, actually the same in the US. According the DMCA, It's illegal to "share" music... But if you're downloading it you're not really sharing it right? It's just the people uploading it to the network. Well, I doubt anyone will challenge with this theory anytime soon. But if they want to now, they can at least refer to Canada's law for persuasion.

Okey doke....well let's see.

I was just at this Keane thread and they're awesome so:

Keane - Somewhere Only We Know

and...or

I Was A Kaleidoscope - Death Cab For Cutie
The New Year - Death Cab For Cutie
Information Travels Faster - yes...DCFC

I can't decide sorry..but uh...I'm the most indecisive person ever. I hope you hold it against me.
To be honest I have other suggestions but I have no idea what type of music you listen to...so yeah. PM if you want. Good luck with the cd though. Byes! :D

Awesome idea for a thread. Very good picks by everyone here, too; glad to see I'm not the only Deathcab fan ;)

The Pixies - "Hey"
Ben Folds Five - "Kate"

"Hey" is on the list because it is, quite simply, a supremely awesome song. It's a live studio recording, which really lends itself to the song's quality, and if all else fails sometimes it's just really great to have a song to tunelessly scream nonsensical lyrics about whores to :P The song rocks.

"Kate" is just a bloody happy tune; the bridge before the last run of the chorus is an embodiment of purely blissful energy, and I honestly can't think of a single time I've listened to it where it hasn't forced me to grin. Infinite musical livelihood abound.
