Hello, everyone! Just finished my first panel--please have a look and let me know what you think! This was my first attempt at painting an environment and my first attempt at a panel, so I definitely need your advice. Thanks in advance!

So...this is what a critique will do to you (not from anyone from the Flight Forums, unfortunately)! This is so different from the first version that I can't even look at them side by side because my brain explodes. Just to be clear, though, the big changes that came from the critique were the darkening of the mountains and the tweaking of the composition. Everything else is a result of working on it more. Is it the final version yet? Probably not.

Nice work! I like the changes. The sense of scale works well here.

Ack...so, this is taking some time. Having trouble with the firelight lighting, and of course the feathers are taking forever (in part because I am an idiot and didn't devote enough energy to finding good references and doing some studies beforehand...when will I ever learn?). I also realized (rather late in the game, I know) that there is NO WAY this is going to work as the second panel--way too sudden. I'm going to need to ease into this shot a bit more gradually--I think I know what perspective I want to do for this additional panel, and it will also permit me to distribute the text more evenly. Sucks, though, because I was definitely ready to move on into the next part.

Feedback, pretty please?

I really like the colours you are using.

Thanks, Boraah! Sorry for the delay in getting out the new panel. Got a little sidetracked with this project:

All right, here is the latest! None of the panels are really finished, except maybe the first one. Trying to lay everything out in a harmonious manner is turning out to be quite the trick! Again, any feedback will be appreciated--complimentary comments, critical critiques, helpful hints, random remarks...I take note of it all!

Yikes, so looking at this on other screens, I realized that poor Yoteau looks like a boiled lobster! Not sure how that happened. Time for some tweaking...

Sometime later... All right, I tweaked it a bit--she should look a little better. Also, I figured how to reduce the size of the images, but have included links to the large versions, so this thread should be more readable now.

Ok, folks...sorry for the delay! I've been doing a lot of different stuff--if you want to know more, check out the latest on http://chameleon-carapace.blogspot.com/.

In any case, here is the fifth panel. Looking back at the third panel, me thinks it may be a good idea to repaint that with a looser style like this one. This panel still needs work, though, so I'll have another whack at it in a couple days. I have an idea of what I need to change, but I would love to get some feedback before I dive back in!

Ok, so I broke my promise and haven't yet revisited that last panel...haven't worked on the comic at all! My apologies. I have been keeping quite busy, though: 1) revamped http://www.camilleswift.com, 2) sold my very first oil painting ever, 3) now have an Etsy shop (http://www.etsy.com/shop/ChameleonCarapace), 4) still working on one oil painting, started another and just completed a digital painting of a "super entity" I'm calling Conundra--check out http://www.camilleswift.com/blog.html for details.

...and as soon as I make some headway on these oil paintings, I'll get back to "Origin"!
