My best friend asked me to do a series of four drawings for his wedding. They will be displayed in the church lobby and given out as cards to the guests. I got kind of a late start, but I think I can do it before August 20th.

Here is the first one:

The subject is that they met in Vegas at the slot machines. I wanted to give it a fantastical look as opposed to realistic (that takes longer). I had an epiphany when I realized that since both the bride and groom are Mexican, that a Mexican style would be appropriate for this piece. The other three will probably have different styles. Share your thoughts if you wish.

Pic #2:

The setup is that after the wedding, he has to move down to LA (There's a valid reason why she can't move up here, but it's private)

so he is going down to LA against his will. The best way I came up with was that she was dragging him there. This is the result:

Third Pic. One more to go. He wanted a picture of his bride in front of the Hollywood sign. She's trying to say "look how cool it is down here, babe. It's Hollywood." The pic is kinda cheesy, but Weddings call for cheesiness, I think. What do I know? I'm not married!

Ok, here is the last one of the series. Finally!

So, The groom is representing San Francisco. All he requested of me was a shot of him in front of the Golden Gate Bridge. This is what I came up with.

I drew these pics out of sequence, The first one would be them meeting, Him repping SF, Her repping LA, then Finally, her dragging him from SF to LA. Now I have to make these into a diorama to display them at the ceremony.

Well, I showed the first one to the groom and he wasn't excited about it. He's loved the other three so far. So I went back to the drawing board and drew the one I was going to do in the first place. I showed it to him last night and he loved it. I started these thinking I would make them the way that I wanted to, but I have to make sacrifices sometimes and give people what they want instead. I'm glad to have been able to do it. as I don't do these kinds of things very often.

Well, the wedding went great and the guests loved the display. The bride and groom passed the artwork out at the wedding and everything! I feel good now. I love a positive outcome. Anyway, here is the display:
