Hey Flighters. I haven't been on here in a good minute.
Last year I illustrated a children's book with a writer I met at my graduating portfolio show and thought I'd share a little bit of it. I'm gonna leave out the words for now.
It's all put together with many edits but we haven't found anyone willing to publish this yet, but I'm still looking n hoping.
Hope you like it! And let me know if you wanna see more pages of this 40 pager.

Glad you like the cover!
Is lulu really a viable publishing approach?
Here are 3 other pages of art only. No real order, Should I just post a few of the pages in sequence? I know these art only pages don't really tell the story..

Super work, Aaron! I really like the bunnies and the big hair on the kid. :) I would definitely like this as a kid. If you are able to share some more, I for one would love to see! :)

These are real good. 8)

lulu.com has a link there at the front page that says "Author Success Stories" that you could raed to see how lulu helped them or you can send a email and ask them questions.

Form what I seen it's a pretty good site, I made an acconut there for when I get my comic finsh and get it publish.

You have a really nice, soft style to your work that perfectly fits the story you're telling, it seems. The colors go right along with it. And you obviously know your animals.

Nice work. Keep it up!

I do actually like this quote from one author on their site:

"You can be yourself, independent and you can publish with no upfront costs. Moreover, with distribution packages, ISBN and global distribution, you can sell your own books all around the globe. My books are available in the National Library, in local bookstores and souvenirs shops, and also at the University Library!"

But this sounds almost too good to be true. I've heard of many self-published artists and authors that regretted the decision because it requires so much self-advertising and out of pocket fees. I'm thinking I would like to exhaust all other publication means before doing something like lulu. Thinking about sending a package with cover letter and a copy of the book to Lee and Low which emphasizes on publishing multi-cultural stories.

Seth- Thanks Seth, really appreciate that!

This might be one of the cutest things I've seen in a long time.

Thanks dark!
Here's another art page, soon I will post a few of digital photos of the actual book not yet in hardcover but basically in final version shape.
This is gonna have to be the last preview of the art. I don't wanna post the whole book haha

I use Lulu and I like them, but two things.

One is that they are not gonna do a darn thing for you. They will "publish" your book, in that, you send them money, they print it. They will not promote, edit, advertise, distribute, or even mention it. They're really just a print shop with an online catalog.

The second is that they are very pricey, especially for color work. There is absolutely no way to print color stuff at Lulu and sell it in stores for a profit. You will absolutely lose money selling in stores. This leaves libraries, conventions, and in-person sales as your only possible sources for revenue.
