I wrote a short tutorial on flatting in my blog today. It makes use of a great plug-in for photoshop that I don't think enough people know about.

Hopefully you'll find this helpful. It saves me a ton of time, and is a big reason why I'm able to consistently update a full-color strip (crap, now my secret it out!)
