Just a question for everyone here...

I know this is a bit down the road for me. But regardless; is it burning any bridges by doing a graphic novel in color rather than B&W when it comes time to find a way to get it printed?

I know it takes larger sums of money and larger print runs to break even when printing color comics. My initial plan would be to try to get a deal with a book publisher or comic publisher (Image, Dark Horse). If that didn't work, I'd probably end up self-publishing the thing.

Is this something I should be worried about? Any advice?

Know how you're going to print it before you start drawing.

I don't know anything about dealing with a publisher, but if you do end up self-publishing, the various web services seem to do a nice job. Ka-blam has a little calculator that will allow you to figure out the various costs. Also check out Lulu.com and... hm, there's another one that's comparable to Ka-blam but I don't remember the name.

It's always cheaper to print it in black and white (monotone)

I would do it based on what works best for your comic.

I would rather have just done mine in black and white, 'cause it's quicker and cheaper, but I did it full colour because it's what suited the comic best.

My impression is that it is based on your audience. If the product is for kids, preference would be color. Teens to adult would be b/w.

I have a fondness for B+W books, and not only are they cheaper to make but also cheaper to buy, but my next book will be colour because it kind of needs to be in colour. Two years ago I started brushing up on my colouring in anticipation of this very story.
