To me, that's everything a trailer should be. They give you the tone and not much else. It just, I dunno, it feels like a serial - it feels like Indy, and that's very, very good.

Now here comes my statement.

We all have different monitors with different settings on them, mine is quite old now and the brightness contrast is set way up, so this MAY look completely different on mine. Drew Struzans original poster is very very contrasty here on mine. I hear somebody cry out in the corner…”I love contrasty things!”...I hear somebody else from the back row cry out…”my god its contrasty, TOO contrasty”...then there’s “DOWSWELL, you got your monitor set up right???” then there’s a reply to that “there’s NOTHING wrong with liking contrasty things, all art is subjective, there is NOTHING wrong with wanting it not so contrasty.....and I possibly don’t have my monitor set up right to be looking at Drew Struzans poster in the correct manner” said by Dowswell.

It's very much something that has come out of the digital age, that a traditional artwork (don’t know if Drew Struzan paints on canvas or does it with a graphics tab on the computer though) can then go off and sometimes be altered by individuals on a computer once its been scanned in who make it too contrasty or alter the contrasty one to be not contrasty, heck!, I did that right here and now...I’m guilty here of altering this thing too!...

What does Drew Struzan want?...THAT’S the question. Is he happy with what happened?...its something that’s very hard to find out. But it’s a important question. Hells bells this may be EXACTLY how Drew Struzan wants it...(the original, not my version)...

I felt it was too contrasty and not dusty enough, with Indiana Jones you think of a lot of dust.

MIND YOU, this location they’re in this time round is WET jungle...hmm, actually, that could be why they went with it so clear and contrasty...

Other then the unusually dark spot by Indy's ear, it looks pretty sweet. It looks more, I dunno, rugged - as opposed to the super clean and high res posters that tend to flood the market.

I use to make my own posters for movies when I was overly psyched for them. Heck, I've got one I did for Clerks 2 hanging on my wall that says "Fall 2006", when in fact the movie wound up coming out in the summer.

It was for an art class too, haha...

Oh yeah definitely...well I mean they really put the time into these Indy posters. And the traditional aspect is so extremely welcome. I’m over the moon to see these traditional posters being made.

ALTERING SOMBODY ELSES WORK

I tend to see "problems" and then want to fix them, but becuase art is such a extreamly subjective thing, everybody is going to argue that one is wrong and one is right.

The fact of the matter is that there arnt any problems there, nobody is wrong or right, just different ways to go about doing somthing and different opinions.

I write a lot on many subjects in-between the on off struggle - on the production of my own film, and also tend to follow (religously) one or two films along in the year with keen interest. Indy being quite a big one for me as its been eighteen years since he last came onto the silver screen. Also for some reason like to premote films that arnt my own too!...LOL

I've now added my growing statement thats grown in the last twelve hours, under the image.

There's a new trailer out now, but before you get too excited...mind, I still find it very exciting, the new shots AT THE START are terrific!...but before you get too excited about there being loads of new shots..theres only four at the start and a new effect added to one shot we've seen before, all and all, still very exicting stuff...I love that theres a effort here clearly shown to try and be faithfull to Douglas Slocombe's cinematography style by using blue light when we see that door open at the start of this trailer.

However prepare yourself for a broken heart if your not wanting to see CG things flying at the camera.

People would be kidding themselves if they thought there would be no CGI in this. The question is if they overdid the CGI or not. Hopefully they didn't. I'm pretty sure that was their aim going into this - to do as much of the stunts as possible in the real world, that is.

But it was going to happen. It takes nothing away from my anticipation, at least.

And yeah, that blue light is mega-sweet!

DOWSWELL THOUGHT THERE WOULD BE NO CG OR DIGITAL GRADING IN THE FILM AT ALL, HE HONESTLY DID

Well the thing is Harry, that they said they wouldn’t...or...I thought that they said that they wouldn’t...so its kind of a broken promise...or... I felt that it was a broken promise but what really happened was it was a misunderstanding that led to disapointment...I started to feel all sorts of things...like, somewhere along the way, Spielberg has been cornered into it perhaps. But it simply could be that he always intended to have CG in there...or...that he simply changed his mind...now, I’m not for a single moment somebody who is going to be very angry about this, and never forgive them. But what I am is disappointed, disappointed through misunderstanding?...but I’m only going to be disappointed initially...it will wear off….and I’ll be ok about it eventually maybe. I might not...but hopefully the story will be so good and the cg will only be in very small amounts that I wont care.

OVERDID CG IN A FILM

This is where we step into the territory of what a individual looking at the shot calls overdid CG, and what a separate individual looking at the shot calls non-overdid CG...and that shot has quite a large CG object in it coming right at ya!...lol. So in my opinion, that is quite big CG work on that one shot. And really, it was a surprise for me.

RESPECT FOR ANY FILM I VIEW BUT NOT TO WITHHOLD HONEST OPINION, BUT TRYING HARD TO BE CONSTRUCTIVE

There is always going to be a respect for any film I view, no matter what the budget is, because I know exactly how hard it is making a film. And the director has to make on the spot hard decisions to do this or to do that...under pressure or through lack of sleep....and then you have to stick by that decision...so I do understand. But there’s always going to be hard things to say about some elements of a movie, honest opinion and how you feel...the truth, and its only one persons opinion, but it’s a opinion that the individual has the choice, to say or withhold how they feel. The problem here is that quite often I say how I feel, and then I instantly regret it, because I know the painstaking work that goes into any film.
