best pizza in LA...I FINALLY FOUND IT!!!
well after living in Dallas and now LA i was afraid id never find any pizza as good as it was on the east coast again. well i've finally done it.
for those of you living in LA you have to check out Johnnies. I'm not sure if its their gimmic or they just know how to make it. they claim to use some sort of water filtration system to make their dough like they do in NYC. they make their own sauce and use good cheese.
i was a little sceptic yet excited at first, well i went to the Johnnies over on abbot kinney the other day and it was AMAZING. definatly the best pizza ive had since i was last in NY.
anyone looking for good pizza i definatly recommend it. not sure about the other locations, but theres one on 3rd st, one in malibu, another in beverly hills, and i believe another in santa monica.

Oooh.. I'll have to try this. I hate California-styled pizza. All this chicken and pineapple on pizza is an ABOMINATION BEFORE THE LORD.
But can it beat Filippi's Pizza? That place is a Comic-Con favorite of mine that is yet to be matched.

Al Gelato
Al Gelato on Robertson in between Wilshire and Olympic (in Beverly Hills) has really good pizza. It has a very New York/Italian-American feel (I've always assumed the staff is an Italian family), and they only take cash, but the service is fairly quick and the gelati is pretty good, too.
The best pizza I ever had came from a place called Dimarco's. The pizza was called (excuse the spelling) Boujournio and had pepperoni, chillis, sausage, pepper, mushroom etc etc and a fried egg slap bang in the middle.
BUT... the best bit was that while you were waiting they gave you a box of crayons and you could draw on the tablecloths!! If they really liked the drawings they'd stick them on the wall for ALL TIME.
In fact; screw the pizza I was in it for the Glory!

Felipe's is great at Comic Con!
Try their Beef Raviolis too...yum.
Has anyone tried Mulberry Pizza?
It's ok...a bit of a new york style...hit or miss.
I'm really DYING for some good New York pizza out here.
Should we start giving directions?
THere's a few Mulberrys...the one I go to is on Ventura Blvd. in Tarzana.
I want BETTER.....so if you guys HIGHLY recommend one...please tell me WHERE to go.
THanks

My favorite pizza out in the Valley is the Pizza Cookery (in woodland hills near the toys r us, and in Van Nuys on Balboa and...Nordhoff?) I understand there are a couple of good places on Ventura blvd, but I've never been to any of them, and I imagine they're all overpiced. The Pizza Cookery's rolls are to die for. you can make a meal out of them.
