The magical postal fairies (thanks guys and gals!) have been delivering me music over the past several days now. It has made me positively giddy with glee.

Currently:

Elephant Micah and The Loud Guitars (MP3)
Stars - Heart (Real)
Phoenix - Alphabetical
Annie - Anniemal (MP3)

I would have to say that Anniemal is the ultimate pop album of the year. Kylie and Gwen have nothing on my Annie. With a single like this, how could you possibly argue with that?

Tonight's the night for streaming new tunes apparently!

Doves' "Black and White Town" and The Flaming Lips covering The White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army."

I'll also do my part and throw in a track as well, for all you lounge and acid jazz lovers out there tonight: St. Germain's "So Flute."

I finally bought "Chutes Too Narrow" by The Shins, and I love it!

It's always nice to revisit a classic like Ben Folds' Rockin' the Suburbs.

Right now: Pet Sounds - The Beach Boys. Picked it up from the library.

Right now I'm listening to anything on my WMP playlist.

Last few songs:

The Breeders - Cannonball
Cordero - Vamos Nenas (MP3)
The Unicorns - We Don't Want to Die (Site, where there is a stream (click the jukebox))
The Stooges - 1969
The Who - We Won't Get Fooled Again

I really enjoy Amon Tobin's work. Turns out he's supplying the soundtrack for the latest Splinter Cell game, Chaos Theory. A track is available for download from the Ninjatune website, and it sounds incredible:

Amon Tobin - "The Lighthouse"

I will likely end up queuing up The Unicorn's Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone? later tonight, after just learning of their breakup.

Oooh, a preview of new music for 2005 on NPR's All Songs Considered, complete with commentaries by various music writers. Artists include Bright Eyes, Son Volt, Kings of Leon, The Raveonettes, and more. Awesome.

[edit]: After listening to Bright Eyes' "Easy/Lucky/Free," I have decided that I like this song very, very much. And that new Woggles track? Incredible.

Download the new vinyl-only album Tum by The Impossible Shapes, made officially available by Secretly Canadian. Great for posers that don't actually own a record player (like me!). The album will only be available for six weeks (the length of their tour with Jens Lekman), after which it'll be taken down.

Grab the album here.

you could probably find a working turntable if you check out garage sales or swap meet

I love the vinyl format because the album covers are big and beautiful and pretty much posters of their own. Abbey Road is displayed prominently in my room.

I actually had the opportunity to pick up a couple of turntables on the cheap a couple of months ago when one of my DJ friends decided to upgrade his decks. I was really tempted (they were really nice decks), but I eventually turned them down, mostly because I don't need another excuse to blow the remainder of my cash on yet another format.

Yeah, not very indie, eh?

At any rate, tonight's mix is an all music (for robots) affair. Some electro in the form of The Egg's "Wall," yet more pretty Scandanavian pop (is there any other kind?) by Flunk, and the pièce de résistance in two more tracks from the Spongebob Squarepants soundtrack (one by Wilco, the other by Mr. Squarepants hisself). I am so buying this album if it even wanders near the bargain bin.
