Continuing my ongoing documentation of the
Modest Mouse phenomena, and my attempts to like them as a band: I have finally listened to the entirety of
The Moon & Antartica, and I really like it. I think my problem before was that I was listening to a jumble of MP3s, but listening to the album as a whole is a completely different experience (that's what I get for downloading music as opposed to buying albums, I suppose). Much like Radiohead's
OK Computer, some of the songs in
TM&A individually aren't as strong taken out of context of the album, which brings up that whole "the sum is greater than its parts" thing, and all that.
So, yeah. I think I like 'em.
Good News For People Who Love Bad News is slowly growing on me, but certainly not the eye-opener that
TM&A was. And I still think "Float On" is one of the best singles this year so far.

this is the awesomest comic about Modest Mouse ever. And so true, too.
