Invincible!

Post by agent44 » Thu Jul 06, 2006 12:37 pm

About a year ago I was at an after party in Dallas and I met a guy named Robert Kirkman. I’ve never been good with names, and I really wasn’t into superhero comics so I had no idea who he was. I asked him what he does and he told me he is a writer. I asked what he writes and he told me a few books, “Invincible” included. I told him I never read it. And that’s when the berating started. I think he said he wouldn’t talk to me until I read it, I can’t remember for sure, I was so chagrined at the time. Not long after that I bought Invincible Vol I and I loved it. It was fun, exciting, and it wasn’t ashamed to be a superhero comic. A year later and 6 volumes digested, I must say it's a chief member in my personal pantheon of great comics. It's got me itching to draw superheroes again, and of course I couldn't keep myself from drawing Invicible.

I also really dig Ryan Ottley’s artwork in it. Especially the consistancy and quality of work done on the schedule he’s on. Super cool. Anyway, here’s some Invincible fan art:

Yeah, and they're both left hands. Someone pointed that out to me earlier today...doh!

fantastic! You really stayed true to the comic on this piece. Excellent work.

Kirkman is definately the man. I've only read the first volume of Invincible so far, but I'm totally hooked on The Walking Dead.

Great work (I like pretty much everything I've seen you draw). Just out of curiosity, was any part of the robot inspired by FLCL? For some reason, the hands remind me of the robot arm that pops out of takun's head...

for some reason I really dig the robot in the background. Sweet work! fun background story too.

Looking great! Love the robot design (I wouldn't have noticed the two left arms, my eyes were just taken by the overall drawing.) An excellent rendition of Invincible.

I only read the first trade, but I'm also totally hooked on Walking Dead, even though I hate zombie movies. Go figure.
