douglas: that was alot of debate, i settled on ....those little domes that come out of vending machines..... don't laugh, I'll make it look cool.

Rad Sechrist: I use them to the best of my ability..that's not what you wanna hear ehh? well...i have about 5 tools i use the most, but the MAIN ones are the exacto blade for carving , the wooden thingy for carving and the pointy deal for....detail carving...oh and a toothbrush for cleaning all those hard to reach spots.

niftylite: coming soon!

After i bake everything i do alot fo sanding and carving, it's really messy and this is ony part of it.

Here is the sanded , baked , and carved head and body, without hands obviusly
I later decided i didn't like these ears so i removed them and made some new ones.
Image

Here is a loose mock-up of the setup. the dome is a proto-type and later broke.
but you can see i got the hands and the gun baked and ready.still looking for the right base or design for the base.... fun stuff

Perfect. Great idea on the helmet. Doesn't sound silly at all.

So does each peice get painted then put together? Or do you just paint the whole thing as one?
So many questions.

thanks doug. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like. The Sculpt is in about seven seperate pieces ,
the tentacles are in 3 seperate sections. the Head is loose from the body and the chair is loose from the ship.

I'm painting it right now and it's been really helpful that it's in seperate pieces.

Clank: it'll be up for auction sometime in april here , feel free to join in!

BlindingForce: thank you kindly!

Thanks Clio! Otis , thanks I'm glad I could spread the love of a Polymer clay. It's alot of fun and quite addicting to play with. I'll post up a walkthru this weekend so stay tuned!

Here's a first pass on some colors, I have since added more detail-type effects and whatnot.

oooh he looks dangerous!

Wow--that is super cool! I'm impressed with your progress! Thanks for posting as you went.
I've played a bit with Sculpey, but never undertook such a big project.
The best thing I did was an original action figure-size replica of Yoda (that's really small) to replace the one I lost years ago. The body was just a clunky prop--all the work went into that tiny head!

Your piggie looks really good. The asteroid rules! The tentacles are so full of life. (I'd like to see the undersides colored differently from the upper... But I' guess you'll get into that soon enough.)
Cool porker character, too. The ship looks awesome. How about some burn marks streaking away from the impact point?

Can't wait to see more... :)
