Brooklyn Betty rides again! (Explosiveupdate 2/28- pg 2)

I had the extreme good fortune to work on concept design for blur's cinematics for Crimson Skies: The High Road to Revenge. Microsoft supplied us with busts of many of the characters including Betty, our hero's trusty protegee. I got to costume her, among others. This piece was drawn on 11x17 bond paper and copied onto some snappy toned stuff courtesy of Kinko's. I then laid down the Prismacolor markers, highlights from ProWhite and wrapped it all up in Photoshop. You saw it here first on the Flight Forums!

Thanks, everybody! I plan on actually buying an XBox soon so I can join in the fun. Working on this game was a blast- the only downside being that so much stuff went unused! We worked for months and months, then the game was revamped (we were lucy it wasn't cancelled  ) Blur (and even lil' ol' me!) was featured in a documaentary entitled Inside Microsoft, about the making of video games. It's run on The Discovery Channel. Here's a bonus pic of Rathbone, who was originally a major player, then got downgraded to a bit part. His aircraft mascot came from photo ref shot by the legendary Gil Elvgren that wasn't used by the master.

Dagnabbit! I keep the television away from me to focus my attention on the work, but then the world whizzes by me without me noticing... sigh...

Amazing work. I can't wait to see more. If there's one area of illustration I love it's concept design and the behind the scenes stuff.

Oh man oh man, I'm totally in love with the entire Crimson Skies Universe, although I think I like the PC game more than the XBOX one. Sooooo awesome. =)

The villainous Ghengis Khan! He plays his role in the finished game as a suave and deadly gang boss, but here's my initial take on the Barbarian of the Airways. Thanks so much for all your comments and compliments! Peppermint- your old friend Leo says hello, and tells me that you're really cute! Your website tells me that you're a very talented artist yourself- such beautiful work, and such endearing characters- check it out, everyone!
