hi everyone, i'm new to the forums --- and first off, i just want to say that the work being done over here is really inspiring. secondly, i want to share some recent work, a landscape created for my new comic. of course, the final won't be in color --- but i thought i'd go all out this time.

hit me with some c & c. thanks!

That is great. Reminds me of an adventure game backdrop for some reason... I think it's the bridge. :)

Gosh. It's beautiful. Your painting style is brilliant.

Couple of notes, though. Your bow looks as though it bends towards the viewer, just a little perspective mistake maybe, and the boat doesn't seem to be in the water so much as on top of it.

These two things are all that's keeping this from being on my top ten weekly list (and the fact that I don't actually keep such a list ;) )

I am just SO impressed right now.

I'll echo everyone else, this is absolutely beautiful. The lighting looks great and the red in the sail is just perfect. Thanks for posting it and I look forward to seeing more.

Nice! The perspective's off in places, and the elements on the left feel like they should be more silhouetted, but the colour effects are good and the mood is definitely there.

I also really like your site design and some of the work you have on there. Great effects, and the graf/anime style stuff is cool. Lovely textures, too.

Very cool. Your colour palette is astoundingly amazing. And I love Chinese boats so automatically your coolness is doubled on top of that. The stuff on your site is also very good (see above re: astoundingly amazing) and I also like your use of patterns.

And I suppose I'd better do the other "c" as well. I think your horizon line needs to be a lot higher and I'm not sure we should be able to see the bottom of the boat beneath the water line- especially given the angle of the light. Unless that's not the bottom of the boat. In which case I retract my previous statement. And this one may be overly nitpicky, but I'm not sure whether bamboo can grow so big on such a precarious bit of rock. But then I'm not an expert on bamboo.
