Rex Steele : Nazi Smasher!
A pin-up for Bill Presing's ultra-cool Rex Steele : Nazi Smasher!! My friend Alex also directed a short film based on Bill's creation. Check out the trailer at the Monkeysuit website: www.monkeysuit.com

I like that old flavor you tried giving it.You should try giving it a worn paper/poster edges to it.
Or an old film tough with hair and scratches in the negative.
Anyhow, anything with kicking Nazi ass is cool. They make the best villains.

Enrico, that rocks!!! Hehe. So charming, and that plane is super cool. I want to see what Agreda did. I am such a huge fan of his...
Thanks for the comments everyone!
Doug, I agree with you about Penny, looking at it now...
Clank > This one took about two hours. Since it was monochromatic and the lines were clean, the coloring was real easy. Most of the time was spent correcting my sketches. I probably should have done one more revision for Penny's sake. Last night, a friend of mine was asking about my process so I showed him my thumbnail and rough sketch. I figured you might want to see these as well...

I basically do overlays to refine the images on my lightbox. By having the basic solid shapes and composition working and already there, I can concentrate on making the details work while trying to maintain the life of the looser drawings. It's a lot like sculpting.
I think this one could have used one more revision, since there are a few elements that are bugging me now... Anyway, I hope that helps, Clank!
