I recently finished this for a kids magazine. It's my first real try at rain. Does anyone have any tips/tricks/critiques?

Your sketch work is delightful. I particularly like the way you work out concepts like the otter king.

Yeah, that last one is certainly something to apologise for :) But the accident in the rain above it is wonderful! It's a bit dramatic too though, poor guy's been hit by a truck and he's totally soaked. He must be pretty miserable...

I think you did a fine job on the rain. It fits the style of the rest of the illustration.

Mike, as usual I LOVE your designs.
When I do rain, I use both withe and black color. I usually put the black behind the white to give it that depth effect. And, I always have those layers on 50 or 30 percent opacity.

That's just how I do it.

Your rain works just fine the way it is though!



Doctor Ragnarok. That's a funny design. I'm confused though... shouldn't you put it in a separate post? I'm sorry If I'm missing why it' here?
