UPDATE 9.04.08 Illustration with Process Shots!!!! PG.2

Post by Patrick Ballesteros » Wed Aug 15, 2007 7:59 am

Hi all, just wanted to say all the work up here is so inspiring, keep rocking! Anyways, I am new to the flight forums and just thought with my first post I should by to contribute some artwork that I have been working on. Hope you guys enjoy and can;t wait to see more cool art.

Here goes:

These first 2 were done for gallery show up in San Francisco.

This piece was done specifically for a show in Los Angeles at Thinkspace Gallery called Untitled Love project. Artists basically had to depict a past heartbreak in a relationship through their chosen medium. I chose to illustrate this, it pretty much summed up how I felt after the breakup.

A newer piece for a friend of mine:

So pretty much in most of my work I am looking for everyday things and adding a little spice and perspective from the inner kid within all of us. Just trying to be really fun and light-hearted.

Ok, enough words, I'll post my art as soon as I can, thanks again for looking everyone!

Cheers,
Patrick

What great detail. When I just glanced at the first one I thought the characters were added over a photo of a kitchen (I do need reading glasses by the way). There's a lot of dimensionality to them. And you have a knack for visual storytelling. Very good stuff.

Small update

Post by Patrick Ballesteros » Tue Aug 21, 2007 12:20 pm

Scott-Thx, I had a lot of fun on this one.
Jambi-Thanks for the compliment, glad you enjoyed it so much!
Blom-Yes I agree, so many cool artists in SF. Thanks.
Dan-Thanks-yea I got to do more of those guys, they are fun.

Here are a few new ones, a little smaller scale, taking a break from the bigger pieces I have been doing as of late. I'll get back to those soon though, I have one sketched out just itching to be rendered.

Anyways, on to the art:

This one was in honor of how freaking hot it was in the valley last friday, I
wish I had a portable ac device that day.

Image

This one I was just messing around with shapes and a little story just popped out.

And finally a little game of tag.

Colors aren't true to how I have them on my screen, still figuring out the bugs on that. Quick note I don't usually make my shadows a solid black, there is usually some color in there...honest.

Alright, back to more doodles, thanks again for looking and hope you enjoy!

Cheers,
Patrick

Og- Thank you so much, you are a man of many talents, I visited your site and all I have to say is your work is amazing!
Muffin-THanks that's what I am trying to push in these
Garkudion-tx, as I said b4 i am itching to do more
Rad-thanks dood, now we can do plein air painting woohoo!
Azzamckazza-thank you
Plognark-Many thanks

Well, here are a couple new ones I finished up. Again they started out as a little exercise that grew into something else. The first one is a sketch for my gf's blog, shes been on a cooking high and asked me to do a small sketch of a character cooking. So this popped out, and a whole story came out of it. I will most likely start to do more with it.

Image

And this one was just an exercise for me trying to dabble more into fantasy stuff with a little twist of course. Also,I've been watching too much 300 as of late.

Image

I am trying to push myself with each one, I think I might try an underwater scene next or something with vehicles...ugh...drawing cars. Till then hope you guys enjoy and thanks so much for all the kind words.

Cheers,
Patrick

Amazing! The combination of humor and the 60s-retro-future style is very cool! ;)
