Oh, it's really amazing. It's the most realistic travelogue I can remember reading, even though it's a cartoon. :) And his artwork is just gorgeous, it goes without saying.

Enrico, I was a little disappointed with Conversation #1 also... I got to the end (after about 3 seconds) and thought, "uhhh ok."

Wait, shouldn't this thread be in the literature section? Is that where it was before? Oh well.

8) I looooved that book.
It reminded me a lot of what you can find
from " L'Association" back home.
It was quite funny for me to see his views
on Europe, and, of course, on France in particular.

I read it on my flight to France ,and i remember
people staring at me when i was bursting out laughing
in a few places....

r.

i finally bought and read this book. it was great.

but now i know that if i ever get to go to europe, my tummy will suffer! craig and i have very similar dispositions, it seems. not that that would necessarily stop me...

this book wonderfully captured a feeling of air and place and atmosphere, much the way blankets did. i'm really looking forward to the graphic novel he's working on next.

i really liked the art in this book.
inspired me to start my own webcomic (starting soon, about my year travelling) but......

i find that Craig just whines and whinges a bit to much for my liking. got a bit to me and that aspect put me off it a bit. during my travels i did have my bits a bit more down like his... but not many during whole year.

so yeah basically a bit in too low a mood. have to try and enjoy yourself a bit more. most people won't bite. and those that do...well you can just walk away and meet some great people right around the corner.

then again what do i know (did have one of best years of my life), not a great writer

Yeah, I find this to be a book for a lonely introvert - at least that's part of its appeal to me :? I actually found the self-conscious whining to be sort-of endearing and familiar.

Just got mine yesterday. So far, I've read the first few pages and flippped through the rest of the book. It's so cool. His sketches are awesome, and from the first few pages it looks like it's going to be an interesting read.

i read Blankets and Carnet de Voyage! These books are really good! I met Craig Thompson during a dedicace session in Lyon (the name of the library is "Experience", he metionned this library in Carnet de Voyage on page 9). He's an amazing comic author! I appreciate all his pictures he done travelling in France esp. the moment he met Blucth. Craig Thomspon is a very sympathetic person, and i've got a nice drawings of him in my Blanckets piece. I tryed to explain what i want him to do on my book, i remember my poor sentence:
"What do you want matthieu?"
"Well, i would like Raina walking on an iced lake"
"??? a what?? iced lake????"
[Craig told one of his friend to translate what i said"
".... ah ok! you mean Raina walking on a FROZEN lake lol"
"......"
A nice moment. :)
