That's quite the badass title, I must say. I'll trust Nolan and co. on their choice of Joker, even though "ohhhhhh k" was my response too. They've done well enough for me to trust them on this.

Heath can pull it off. I think he needs a nose prop though.

After Singer proved me wrong and showed us Superman could be a stale and anticlimactic film, Nolan comes with some gambling news of Heath as the Joker. You know what? Why couldn't we have gotten Jude Law under prosthetics? Sheesh for that matter Singer, why didn't Jude Law appear as General Zod in Superman or maybe get some Brainiac action for Supes to fight!?!?!? Either idea could have possibly been able to save Superman from such an insane and uninspired plot. Anyhow Nolan get I mean Heath is cool and all as well as a good actor just needing better roles and films to shine in but Joker? Jude has the height and frame for the character not to mention acting chops to bank on it. Heath is nothing like the Joker body wise, good acting or not. I cannot even imagine this being Jack Nicholson Joker. What do I mean by that? Jack was nothing like the Joker body wise but pulled it off amazingly cuss we know Jack is nuts and can act on a good day better then most, lol... and damn did he not look cool under Joker paint and grin!!! Sorry Nolan, I like your style, but this is a GAMBLE and a HALF to say the least. Revamping does not mean destroy what is good and logic for new and shocking, it means updating with some common sense or some respectable knowledge of the source materiel, SHEESH. I'm gonna be a whore and just beg Nolan to fix Batman's big ass head gear and slim the suit down more so to become an actual working and believable suit for Batman action (like sneaking and attacking ala Val Kilmor's suit.). he is some form of Ninja/Detective, no? I'll let your insane tank sized Batcar and casting oddities slide with a grain of salt otherwise.

I wonder how they'll explain the joker. They can't quite use the hisory in the comics, not completely anyway, (According to two versions of Joker's origin that I've read, it's Batman's fault.) but I'm hoping they make him a failed comedian like he's supposed to be.

I never liked the fact that in the previous films they didn't use the fact that Two-face was one of the good guys before.

Edit:

I did like the new batmobile though and lets hope they don't kill all the bad guys off this time round.

Exclusive! Dirt on The Dark Knight!

Mean Magazine talked to Nolan about his new flick, The Prestige but got an ear full on our Dark Knight. So in addition to talking about the dueling magicians thriller at length, Nolan indulged some of our curiosities about his next little project THE DARK KNIGHT.

You’re going to have to wait until the October 23rd issue Mean hits the streets for the whole lengthy dialogue but in the meanwhile here’s a taste…

Mean Mag: Batman Begins dealt with a range of themes from revenge to how we confront fear. What themes will you be exploring in The Dark Knight?
Nolan: I suppose in loose terms I can say it’s about things having to get worse before they get better.

Mean Mag: It’s that note the first film ends on of escalation?
Nolan: Very much.

Mean Mag: Is there anything to be inferred from the name you’ve chosen for this film, The Dark Knight?
Nolan: Ultimately yes. [Laughs] But I’ll leave that for people to infer.

Mean Mag: This is the cryptic portion of our chat.
Nolan: Yeah. [Laughs] The title has been chosen very specifically. It’s quite important to the film.

Mean Mag: I take it [the Joker] will be less Cesar Romero and Jack Nicholson than the Joker we saw portrayed in a comic like The Killing Joke?
Nolan: Yes. I would certainly point to The Killing Joke but I also would point very much to the first two appearances of the Joker in the comic. If you look at where the Joker comes from there’s a very clear direction that fits what we’re doing very well.

Want to know more pick up Mean on October 23rd... Hopefully more tidbits will become available on such things as Nolan’s thoughts on taking on The Prisoner and another huge franchise character as yet unmentioned… I can't imagine.

NOTE: If you are linking or reporting this story on your site please be sure to include Mean Magazine (Meanmag.net) and (galaxykid.blogspot.com) as your sources.

Don't. If you do, there will be the slight chance that you'll be disappointed.

Just go in there, take a deep breath, and don't expect too much. And you may enjoy it more.

But that's just what I think. :)

Has Christopher Nolan ever disappointed you yet?

No. But every director has a stinker in their body of work.

But I really don't think this will be one.

After watching the trailer, it seems to me the laugh truly does not disappoint.
