Daft Punk & Leiji Matsumoto's Interstella 5555

As was mentioned earlier, this was a combined effort by the french musical group Daft Punk, with Legendary animator Leji Matsumoto, who created Galaxy Express and Captain Harlock.

For those of you not fortunate enough to have seen it, it was a series of animated segements combining Daft Punk's trademark music from their album "Discovery" along with the animating power of his studio. The end result was breathtaking. No dialogue was in the animation, but there wasn't the need for any. The music did all the "talking".

However, when it was first released as music videos, only enough animation for 4 songs were released, and after that, Mr. Matsumoto decided to concentrate his efforts on creating the Captain Harlock series. and it came to a stand still.

However, the ENTIRE series was eventually finished off by the studio and combined with the music from DaftPunk. And only 2 months ago, was released as a DVD in its entirety. nonstop.

I'm gonna be making a purchase right after finishing this post. ^^

I'd love to have it, but I need to see if I really like Daft Punk first.

Trust me, you will. It is, scientifically speaking, impossible not to like Daft Punk.

I'll give it a try...scientifically speaking, you say? Let's see if my eclectic taste defies science once again. I'm all prepared to like them, though.

Ok, I checked and I like them so far. Hooray for science. But now it's bedtime, else I'll fall asleep tomorrow at the Beatles movie.

But wait - is it supposed to make me sad or is it just me?

Oh, did I let my inner mad scientist show again? Drat.

The more I listen to Daft Punk, the more I like them.

I agree

I knew that art was familiar. Daft Punk is scientifically impossible not to like, as is AIR. Go Frenchies! Okay, now I'm being a bit bias, but these groups are phat. Thanx a lot stick, now I'm curious about this project with Daft Punk and Leji Matsumoto.
Money! Money damn it! I can't hold on to you. Why?!

P.s. I finally saw the Triplets of Belleville on the big screen and it is awesome. Especially made for artists and animation fans, but I wouldn't recommend it to the Disney crowd. Unless I wanted to show them that the current Disney can be escaped once and for if we just have some hope.

Tell more about the Triplets of Belleville! I saw the trailer, but there's no clue to a plot. I'm going to see it if it comes to Austria ^^ I loved that song they sing.

It's fague

It's a very fague over all story. I mean you know what's going on, it does set up some characters, and the world they are in. But the plot is just a way to show it (The art and effects) all off. It was so well done artistically that subtitles are not even needed (their weren't any anyways). Do not go expecting another Spirited Away though, but be prepared to be eyemazed. Hehehe :)
I would like to see this world again if possible, but I keep telling myself do I need to?
