I caught a showing tonight and loved it. Really solid (if predictable) story and great (if cookie-cutter) characters.

What struck me most was the look of the film. The hand-painted backgrounds were extremely prevalent throughout, even taking the place of geometry in several cases. I don't understand this decision for a film built for 3D (you lose a lot of depth), but it really gave everything a much more painterly, "2D" feel, and I think it was absolutely gorgeous.

I didn't even notice the painted backgrounds. I'll have to look for that when I see it again in Non-3D

This movie was great! saw it twice and loved it. I'm glad to see painted backgrounds in 3d films! I really want the soundtrack! The Bolt/Penny theme... the piano!... makes me happy/teary!

Saw it a second time as well and noticed all the painted backgrounds as well as that Miley Cyrus has about 10 lines, much to the disappointment of my little sister.
