Saw this at the local independent theater: http://www.thepalmtheatre.com and was completely blown away. I was a fan of Hunter's work before but this just added to it. With the editing, Johnny Depp's reading of Hunter's work, and the recollections of his friends and colleagues, it was the best doc I've seen in a long time.
Hunter was someone who did what the voices in his head told him to do, no matter how crazy and, well, gonzo it was. As someone who wants to become a writer in some way it made me wanna get inside my own head and find some way to harness all the craziness.
How he was able to balance the madness and the creativity is still something I'm trying to figure out.
Very, VERY inspirational and sobering.
