Speed Racer

Post by Stick » Fri Dec 07, 2007 12:54 am

I just saw the trailer for the movie today.. i was somewhat impressed with how the movie looks. Then again, I didn't have the biggest expectations going in, but it does appear they're trying to have a similar environment to how the tv show was, as crazy as that sounds.

I'm somewhat looking forward to this in 2008.

I checked out the website and the car looks amazing. I think they have lined up a solid cast and I have faith in the Directors. I will be optimistic and keep the mind set that this is going to be a fun, action adventure film.

I think McG beat them to it already. It was called "Charlie's Angels".

This will either be uniquely amusing or complete trash. Based on that trailer, I'm leaning towards the latter.

EDIT: THIS is the CAR??

Uggghhhh. Look at those hideous rims. And that AWESOME Yokohama product placement. DO NOT WANT.

I'm still going to see it.

It looks cheesy but if your a fan of the tv show I think it is pretty close.

Here is the television opening theme song, I think they did a great job making the car look exactly like it did in the show.

Yeah, this doesn't really interest me at all either, and I LOVE movies with cars in 'em -- for some reason, no one seems to have been able to accurately replicate fast-moving cars in CGI (the body roll always seems lacking to me).

I've been through a couple of different brands of tires, and I swear by Yokos. Grippy.

Looks like a piece of crap. A movie like this should be a full on comedy, and from the looks of the trailer, seems like they are taking it way to seriously... could pan out to be a good "stupid funny" movie... *shrug*

Racing scenes look really dumb, doesn't look like they even tried to make quality CG.

On a side note, that mach 5 looks sweet.

After seeing the trailer, the only thing keeping me from denouncing this movie entirely is my faith in the Wachowskis.

I really wasn't into the idea of this film until I saw the trailer. It never seemed like something that would translate well to live action. But it looks like they have done a decent job and I'm kind of looking forward to it now.

A film like this totally rides on its sense of camp. From the trailers it looks like it's taking itself rather seriously, which will probably not work, at all. (Needs more 60's lounge music too!)
