Grave Robbers - Trials of the Prawn Cult

Post by Soggytoast » Tue Apr 18, 2006 11:48 am

This is a silly and fun adventure story that Stephanie Yue and I did together. I'll just post the first couple of pages with a link to the rest on WCN. This is sort of a test story to see if people like the charactes and how they interact. There's a lot more brewing if people decide they like our Goonie-ish kids!

EDIT: I added the rest of the pages here so that the post doesn't seem like an ad for my WCN site ;)

The rest of the story (it's only 8 pages) is HERE!

Thanks, Kazu. Stephanie inked them. She makes my drawing look better.

This wins 3 thumbs up from me.

Looks like it'd be a fun coloring project.

I really like your usually "scratchy" ink style, but I have to admit the slick line inking that Steph is doing really brings your art up to another level.

I definitely want to see more more more!

Oh yesh, a great collaboration there. Solid drawings and solid inking. Great balance of B&W. A fun (but short) adventure. Will definitely enjoy seeing more :D

This comic is great! Your penciling and inking team should work together all the time.

well, you know what they say, a lemon a day keeps the....uh...ugh, forget it. : P

what a great story. I wasn't expecting the ending at all. Reminds me of something the rat creatures from Bone would say (probably because I'm reading Bone at the moment).

Anyhoo, keep it up and all that jazz. I for one would much like to see more shenanigans.

LEMON DEATH!!!!!
Sadly I don't have anything constructive to say. But I thought it was excellent. Really enjoyed it. And well written it was too. You've got a great pace with your humour, some well timed gags in there. And the style is lovely too. There's a little of the old Mangaka in there mixed with western humour strip style, held together with a grounding in anatomical knowledge too. It works brilliantly in black and white, but I'd just love to see this in colour too.

I really enjoyed your characters in this. They are designed very well, and I felt like I already knew them.

It took me several readings to notice the little gem on page 7, panel 1: four out of five lobsters bogart the lemon drink, the one on the far right is all "hey!" in a "quit hoggin' it" sort of way. Delicious detail!
