Hi, guys

After a long time and maybe way too much thought, I've decided to do Moon Town as a webcomic. First 8 strips are up:

I won't be promoting it hard core until next Tuesday when I'll have 10 strips up, but I thought I'd give my Flight buds a sneak peek.

Hope you like it!

Here are the first 5 strips for those who are interested. More recent strips at the Official Moon Town website.

This is really fun! I love a good sci fi story, especially when it's this well drawn.

How you so quickly established the different -- and conflicting -- personalities is fantastic! I shall definitely start following this one!

Thanks, guys!

Sharpclaw - that's a nice thing to say... I think and worry obsessively about character, so that's quite gratifying to hear that it worked, at least for you!

Love the style for sure. It caught my eye right away, and you maintain it so I'm not disappointed, but rather gratified.

I totally dig the style - the colours especially. I'd like to use a similar technique for my own comic - is that Illustrator or just very carefully-applied Photoshop work?

Thanks, guys!

Mr. Average - that's Photoshop. It's a pretty slap-dash technique, I have to say. I'm picking my colors with some care, but as for applying them, I flat the strips by just cutting rough shapes with my lasso tool and filling them, letting the inks define pretty much everything.

Then I pay a bit of attention to where I think the light is coming from and I light and shade accordingly in a similar technique, cutting rough shapes and using the levels adjustor to darken or brighten the sections, and occasionally using the color balance adjustor to put some blues in the shaded areas and usually something warm in the highlights.

:)

I'd be very interested to know how you go about selecting a colour palette. Colour theory was never my best subject, so up to now most of my work has been in black and white.

Honestly I just grab colors I like, and start putting them together. If I add one that I don't think belongs with the others, I'll tint it until it feels right.

It's not a very theory-based approach, but it's what I do...

Steve is rockin' this already and it's only 10 strips in - I'm looking forward to many fine years of Moon Town goodness! How about that art and colors? It gives me one of those "am I inspired, or do I go and break all my pencils" moments. Aaah!

what happened with the animation? I guess I missed that. I was really looking forward to it, the artwork was so awesome.

Hyperion - I was going to make a series of films in my spare time, but I couldn't get the results I wanted in any sane amount of time, so I'm doing it as a graphic novel instead. Same cool drawings, just not animated... yet. :)

BTW - for those who don't like leaving the safe, warm confines of the Flight Forums, I present the next 5 strips:

The latest strips, of course, can be found at the Moon Town comic site...
