I did this comic as a background for a magazine illustration. I ended up liking the comic a little more than the complete illustration (plus it wasn't my normal style and I'm not prepared to switch my style in that direction.)
Enjoy the deep and important storyline.

Wow what a powerfully deep comic. It is obvious that the main character represents the common western man as the "E" on his forehead certainly stands for everyone. The dark character stands for the outsider as his costume indicates and the fact that he wears a space helmet. You have brilliantly show the common man struggle his natural xenophobic urges. The outsider attacks the common man but doesn't do so in a malicious way because after the first confrontation the outsider meditates quietly wishing for peace. It is at this time that the common man realizes that he is battling not the outsider but himself and turns outside himself and calls upon the power of community and friendship as symbolized by the "power of 3" and jumps towards the outsider with his arms spread wide ready to give the outsider a hug. I agree this comic was powerfully deep.
Of course that interpretation might have just been my liberal arts education getting a little carried away and all that is happening is two Japanese like superheros battling each other to the death. Either way is cool with me.

No offense, but with the last name of Laughead, were you doomed to become a cartoonist?
I love your comic here and the others on the site. You have a lot of talent. Keep up the great work!

This was just an interior illustration. What they finally wanted wasn't something that would go in my portfolio so I just kept the part that I liked, the comic.
