May 19th and 20th SketchCrawl - Art Auction fundraiser !

Post by enrico » Sun Apr 15, 2007 11:34 pm

Saturday May 19th it's the 14th World Wide SketchCrawl and we are making it a world wide fundraiser.

Sunday May 20th as part of this weekend benefit effort we are organizing with our Maverix Studios friends (in San Francisco) a benefit Art Auction.

All the funds will benefit the humanitarian Organization Emergency. http://emergencyusa.org
Emergency builds quality care and hospitals to treat civilians in war-thorn countries.
It's a wonderful wonderful organization that has been doing amazing humanitarian projects in places such as Afghanistan, Cambodia, Sudan, Sierra Leone and Iraq.
Please watch this video to get a more detailed idea of what Emergency does.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0I7Ql5uLqA&eurl=

We would love to help this cause and we thought we'd come together as a global drawing community to raise awareness and money for it! I hope that some of you might want to join us in this!

As far as the SketchCrawl part of the fundraiser: we thought the best way to raise money would be similar to an AIDS marathon. We are asking to anyone who would like to participate to the SketchCrawl to raise $100 in donations. And to do so, most of us will need some sponsors. So here is a sponsor form you can download:
http://enricocasarosa.com/sketchcrawl14/sponsorform.pdf

The idea is to get a few friends, colleagues or family members to sponsor your sketchcrawl, making a check to Emergency. Then you can mail directly all the checks you have gathered and your sponsor form to Emergency. The donators will get a write off, in the US.

Ronnie del Carmen and I will be meeting artists in San Francisco on the 19th. Details on that and several meeting locations all around the world at the forums: http://sketchcrawl.com/forums

The second part of this Fundraiser is an Art Auction in conjunction with Maverix Studios on Sunday May 20th.

where: Maverix Studios (1717 17th Street, SF)
when: 5pm to 9pm
how: silent bidding, Final bids at 7:30pm.
We will also have a benefit raffle with special prices.

A few of the confirmed artists:
Steve Purcell (author of Sam and Max)
Rhode Montijo (author of Pablo's inferno and Cloud Boy
Pierre Alary (author of Belladonne)
Dice Tsutsumi (contributor to Out of Picture)
Ted Mathot (author of Rose and Isabel)
Jamie Baker (author of Rocket Rabbit)
Bill Presing (author of Rex Steele Nazi smasher)
Scott Morse (author of Noble Boy, Souldwind, The Barefoot Serpent and more)
and many more are joining in, we'll keep you updated on the list.

This is going to be quite a night at Maverix Studios. Great art on the walls, a chance to own wonderful pieces of work from some of your favorite artists and all at once, with your purchase, donate money to a worthy humanitarian and peaceful cause !!

So, Join us saturday or sunday or both days! And help us spread the word and make this a great weekend for a great cause.

Thanks for your time my friends and thank you for your help in advance!

Best wishes

Enrico Casarosa

Hey Enrico, I live in the East Bay and would absolutely love to be a part of this. Do I just show up at the Peet's at the Ferry Building? Thanks! 8)

De Seve art piece  :D what a beauty!
I wish I could be in San Francisco that day to push that auction.
It's Flaubert looking to his "Madame Bovary" image on the window, Right?
de Seve is illustrating flaubert most famous quote "Madame Bovary, c'est moi!"
great and great :D
