Okay, maybe this has been covered already -- and if so, feel free to fling balloons filled with tepid urine at me -- but I was wondering about reprint rights for our individual stories on our websites.

For example, can I put up just my story on my website if I like? And if not immediately after publication, is there a certain time when the book's exclusive print rights run out?

For example, my short story "Hurdles" was originally printed in a poetry and prose anthology called "Smart Mouth". In accordance with the contract, I wasn't allowed to reprint that story anywhere, including my website, for a year. But once that year was over, all printing rights revertered back to me, at which point I put the story on my website.

I'm just asking cause I'm going to doing my story in color and then converting it to B&W for the book. I thought it might be cool to put the color version up on my site (or some site like modern tales) so people could see what it looks like in color.

Another consideration: would you guys be interested in having a web version of the book, ala "Wary Tales".

Kazu?

I'm glad you brought this up, Derek. (filling balloon with tepid urine...) :)

Since this project was really founded on the idea that it serve as an excuse to get our own personal projects done, all printing rights remain with the artists. I'm hoping that the book receive first printing rights, but beyond that, you guys can do whatever you want with your stories. In fact, I was thinking it would be a great idea for everyone to be able to sell their individual pieces through bitpass to their web-based readership. My feeling is that this would only help garner interest in the book anyway. Regardless, as I mentioned before, I'm throwing a big wad of cash down on this thing much like I would at a roulette table. I'm kissing it goodbye, and if it comes back, then great! So that's the attitude I'm taking, just for the record.

Derek, I'm also doing my story in color, since I plan to reprint the longer Copper stories in a big color book sometime in the near future.
