I'm pretty much the same way I think.

I usually come up with the story structure, themes and think up the dialog and I put all of this in the script. The specific camera angles and pacing usually get worked out in the thumbnails; though I'll usually have a rough idea of what I want beforehand.

Thirdeyeh, just wanted to chime in and say what's been working out for me so far. I've started getting up super early to work on my comic (5:00am). It's crazy, as I'm not at ALL a morning person, but I go running first for a half hour and by the time I get back, I'm totally pumped to get working on ...

Holy...! I was just about to ask about this same exact topic! Thirdeyeh you read my mind! I'm also trying to figure out an efficient way to budget time to work on my graphic novel. Wish I had some answers, but I'm kind of in the same situation here it seems. I'd be curious to know what others have d...

This is a great thread :D I can relate to your dilemma, Thirdeyeh. I'm going through a similar frustration myself; being in a career that isn't necessarily the IDEAL one for me and wishing I could do what I really WANT to do. I think all creators go through this. It's one of the driving forces that ...

Graphic Novel Printing- Color or B&W?

Just a question for everyone here... I know this is a bit down the road for me. But regardless; is it burning any bridges by doing a graphic novel in color rather than B&W when it comes time to find a way to get it printed? I know it takes larger sums of money and larger print runs to break even whe...

Thanks Og. I went ahead and listened to those podcasts. They were extremely helpful. I think they helped to wake me up out of my stupor and made me realize what I needed to do here. Can't believe I've allowed myself to drift into the "dreamer" mentality a bit, I used to be fairly prolific at produci...

angeldevil: If I had to decide what I wanted most, it's a hard one, but I would probably choose telling my own stories over seeing characters I've animated move. For me, animation is just a means to an end. I love great animation, but I'm much more inspired by the idea of creating memorable worlds a...

Graphic Novels vs. Animation

So I'm at a bit of a cross-road in my life. My dream career is to be able to tell my own stories. I've pursued both comics and animation/film as possible ways of doing these stories. But being unable to commit to either, I haven't accomplished nearly as much as I feel I could have; had I been more d...

Scanning Pages/Photomerge

Hi, Anyone here care to share their proccess for scanning artwork into the computer? I seem to be having some trouble because of the size of my original art (11X17). I have to scan it in sections and there's always a gray bar on one end where the lighting was different due to the irregular page size...

Not sure if this might already be painfully obvious.... but you can always check Ebay. Not sure how the license stuff works though and you'd want to make sure they were indeed legal copies you were buying.
