Neil (or anyone with experience)-- DO you have any quick tips for scanning/resolution etc when making a font? I don't have any more experience with it than you at this point, but the tutorial suggests a height / width ratio of 1.5 x 1... I think resolution is not that important, because Fontographe...

I got Fontographer for my Mac and I didn't really know what to do; it was pretty scary. But then I found this tutorial: http://www.andrew.cmu.edu/~twm/makefont/ It turns out that it's not very difficult, just takes a few hours. I think I'm going to try to make a font of my lettering tomorrow... It s...

Hey guys, thanks for the concern and all the kind emails.. It was really nice of you. Kazu, I replied to your email but Hotmail ate it, so I tried again... Anyway, I'm alright, I haven't died or lost my mind or anything. I think I can bring back my site in a couple months or so, so it should be alri...

Hey Rad, I'd been trying to think of how to phrase some good advice but it's hard to verbalize... I guess I mostly think about color intuitively, like Kean. Kazu's comments about hot/cold and complimentary colors are really good advice though. I guess I think you should start with a very simple colo...

Ah, this movie finally came to Pittsburgh and I saw it tonight. I agree, "Mount Head" and "Das Rad" really stand out.. That was a sensational ending to the program. The painting animation with the horse-riders was also pretty moving. I think I disliked the computer-generated stuff the most ("50% gre...

Ah yeah, I was wondering why I couldn't reload the site... My server is kind of sucky right now too. It's too slow; sorry if the image stalls. The new homepage looks nice! The image is beautiful, though a bit big (you'd have to keep scrolling down...). But, it's important to have something very eye-...

Thanks Kazu! "Greasy spoon" is slang for a small, cheap, sometimes unsanitary restaurant. :)

Hm, you guys are right... It's funny how obvious something like that can be when pointed out to you. So here's my amazing solution: http://neilcomics.com/elliott2.gif It seems like cheating a bit to hide the mistake, but I think it helps the color balance and composition as well. Joel, not sure what...

I made this for my website pretty quickly when I found out that Elliott Smith had passed away. I'd like some crits on it because I think it has a lot of my most common mistakes. Especially the colors. *barf*

Really awesome Kazu! I think the lines around her abdomen should be dark brown (like around her hands) instead of black.. But that's super nitpicky. I really liked the review of the film on boltcity--it presents a pretty good defense to those who were put off by it.
