The style reminds me a lot of Richard Sala - it's gutsy. You set your tone and stick to it. ANd I find nothing wrong with the story. In fact, it's actually oddly compelling. And well drawn, too.
I like it a lot!

Re: 6-Commando
Thanks! This has been a really interesting project for me, and the last few pages are ones I'm particularly happy with. I appreciate your taking the time to check it out!

Re: Project Rophelcopter 1-18
I definitely agree. This is a really beautiful bit of work - the balance between the open, minimal parts and the more complex scenes is pretty much what I'd consider ideal. And you have a real knack for dialogue - it reads very smoothly, in a way that I've not seen for quite some time. Smooth dialog...

Re: 6-Commando
I hadn't realized it was more than eight months since the last time I took a look at this forum. Slow, maybe, but still looks like cool stuff going on around here. My comic exploration 6-Commando continues, well into the second chapter now. This is a little sequence I'm working on now, and am rather...

Re: Zita the Spacegirl and Journal Comics
The little creature with the bindlestiff there reminds me of the wully-wully, from one of Laurent de Brunhoff's Babar stories.

Re: 6-Commando
I'm one of the fortunate ones, to have a great deal of work on hand these days. Have had little time to post, though - only lurking, and gazing in envious silence at the consistently awesome comics still going up here, albeit at a slightly lower rate than last year at this time. In any case, my own ...

Working Title "Z"
I have strange ideas sometimes. For whatever reason, this one came to me while I was filling out zoning applications for a new building. I'm not sure if there's a story here or not, but I'm drawing it as a "warmup" for my weekly comic, and it actually looks a lot better than 6-Commando. Go figure. I...

Re: Serious Business
A lot of those expressions reminded me of George Liquor, American - from Ren and Stimpy. I love it! This kind of warped and over-the-top caricature is almost a dying art at this point. Really nice work!

I really appreciate the support, Joost! And all these machines are starting to get to be second nature to me now. Actually, I've begin to think of them as more like characters as I go on. And of course, one of them actually IS a character, so... By the way, I'm glad you notice the insignia - It's al...

Re: My mad comic Rajz-roham
This is a pretty wild piece of work - reminds me of a cross between the animation from Yellow Submarine and the Gonzo style of Ralph Steadman. Really awesome! Also - "alma" means "apple" in Kazakh, as well (and a lot of languages of the same group), though I presume this Magyar here given your locat...

Re: reMIND - a graphic novel
Great stuff as ever, Jason. I like seeing these pages here up-close: somehow on your site they always seem to scale down on my monitor. Something to do with a bad video driver I've never bothered to fix. Which I should, considering I use this thing to work with. But whatever. The amount of detail an...

Consistently beautiful work. The design is remarkably simple, but conveys an enormous amount of emotion. Lovely, start to finish.

Re: The Mal and Chad comic strip is back!
I have to say I like them both equally - the key is that they're consistent with each other - the sketchy ones are sketchy throughout, and the slick ones are slick throughout. And they all have a wry and kind of warped sense of humor to them that speaks to me. The "Man's worst enemy" gag was particu...

Re: 6-Commando
Matthewart - I'm glad you like it! I have actually never been very good at drawing machinery, so this is kind of my way of forcing myself to do it. I grew up in a pretty militaristic time, and the hallmark of my childhood mythology was G.I. Joe. The metaphor of all-American soldiers battling against...

Re: New guy, new work, looking for a critique
Well, let's see. Some of the most typical ones are Katsuhiro Otomo, Masamune Shirow, Will Eisner, Hergé and Tati. They are all masters of line control. The latter two are masters of the "ligne-clair" or "straight-line" style popular among the Franco-Belgian cartoonists of the middle 20th century. Mo...
