Re: Expensive displays: R they really needed for Illustration?
I can see your point. Doing linear stuff, (or paint within constrains) needs a precision that comes natural when you are working on a cintiq, as opposed to a tablet, where lines are like a constant little guessing game. or a game of trial and error, undoing 5 lines before ending up with the one you ...

Re: Expensive displays: R they really needed for Illustration?
Thanks Kazu I haven't heard before that it performs so well as a display. I am really comfortable with the intuos tablets, and trying a cintiq for a little while, didn't feel quite so smooth or similar. It's not like a tablet, and it's not like the real thing either. There is probably an adjusting pe...

Expensive displays: R they really needed for Illustration?
Hey, Happy new year everyone! I am looking around for a new display. I use my computer (as most people in here) as a tool for illustration and comics. My stuff, 9 out of 10 times are destined to be printed in offset, and being a freelance illustrator, my work is rarely printed at the same printer, w...

hmm.. thats interesting. I didn't expect to see that much of a difference between opinions. I thought that this gadget was something everyone loved by default. I guess I am wrong. Kazu: My concern is primarily print colors. I am still working on a big Lacie crt screen, and its close to perfection, w...

Alex: I was suggesting using the extra monitor not as a desktop extention, but mirroring the cintiq so you get to see exactly the same thing in both, so you could check for your color accuracy (and pick them up as you work) by looking at the monitor, and then work on your cintiq as usual. sounds sil...

I've been thinking of buying a Cintiq myself. And Plouffe just pushed my button with his comment. I too dont trust LCD in general when it comes to color, cause I am also quite paranoid when it comes to color accuracy. I was wondering though what if you had the cintiq, along with a proper monitor tha...

Thanks Kean! This is a portrait of a Greek theater producer for a magazine article that I just finished. The interesting part was that I've been asked to make it look like it came out of on old 60s movie poster. I wish I could post something less boring instead of portraits. But thats the kind of wo...

Here it is. I feel its kind of a bland pin up though. Didn't have anything else in mind while doing it, apart from the character himself. I 'd like to play around with hellboy at some point, on a piece where I'll get him to actually DO something. btw, my browser shows this image very desaturated, if...

Some random Sketches
Here are some stuff I did these days. Nothing fancy. A couple semi-interesting recent sketchbook pages A quick mixed media sketch and a half finished fleshtones study, just for practice without the use of reference. http://www.kiriakakis.net/flight/sketch002.jpg http://www.kiriakakis.net/flight/sket...
