Cavemen in Space by Joey Weiser

A lot of developments have come since I first posted about my Cavemen in Space Fundraiser a few months ago. There is only one month left for the fundraiser, so I decided to do one more post to remind folks about it, and to catch everyone up on what’s been happening with it and the book.

-AdHouse Books has released its information about the book. AdHouse will be distributing the book, and the book is solicited in Previews now, so you can preorder the book at your local comic shop, to be shipped in May! Diamond Order Code: MAR10 0679

-Preview pages and sample comics all around! You can download a pdf at AdHouse’s CiS Page, previewing the first 9 pages! Then you should go over to the Amazon page and click on “Search inside this book” to read MORE preview pages that pick up right where the AdHouse preview leaves off! THEN you should go over to my site and check out the full-color Cavemen in Space warm-up comic that I drew when getting started on the book!

-At the moment the Cavemen in Space Fundraiser has raised $2,112. That’s about 60% with about a month to go. I have announced a deadline for the fundraiser which is April 5, 2010. In the second month, I announced extremely limited hand-crafted woolly mammoths that will go to the first 4 people to donate over $150. 2 have gone to good homes, but 2 are still left! Act now!

-The CiS Fund has had one Level 9 donor so far, and he has made his appearance in Monster Isle!

I think that’s the basics! Check out my website and blog for more regular updates and some more in-depth information about the publication of Cavemen in Space! If you haven’t already, please consider making a donation to the fund, and/or preordering/recommending the book at your local comic shop this month. And look for the book to hit shelves in May! Thanks!

Rewards for Supporting Cavemen in Space by Joey Weiser

As some of you may know, I have recently completed my second graphic novel, Cavemen in Space. I plan to self-publish and distribute through AdHouse Books this Spring, but I need your help!

Inspired by folks like Liz Baillie and Jamie Tanner, I have launched a fundraiser to raise the raise the money required to publish Cavemen in Space! And as a thank you for donating, I have several different rewards based on the level of donation!

Go to the donation page to see the details, but rewards for donating include original art, comics, and more! And if you can’t afford to donate, you can still support the cause by sharing this page with others on your blog, Facebook, Twitter, email, cave walls, etc!

So, click here to see how you can be the first to read my newest projects, receive original art, and even appear in a comic yourself!!

Monster Isle by Joey Weiser

I would like to welcome you to Monster Isle! This is a new weekly webcomic by yours truly featuring the monstrous Gargantura (or “Gary” to his friends), Torgo, and Gil and their day-to-day life on the tropical island they inhabit.

A black & white version of Monster Isle originally appears in the weekly Athens, Georgia publication Jake. A week later, each strip will appear online and in full, glorious color. So, bookmark the site or subscribe to the RSS Feed so that you won’t miss these guys every week!

Cavemen in Space Close-Up by Joey Weiser

Inspired by folks like Flight‘s own Kazu Kibuishi, I’ve put together a step-by-step guide to how I make a page of Cavemen in Space! This covers a lot of ground that has been brought up from time to time around the Flight Forums and elsewhere, so I thought somebody might find it interesting. Take a look!

Guest Artist @ Partyka

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 by

Hey folks! Joey Weiser here again!

Kaiju Life - The Ultra Family

I am pleased and proud to announce that during the month of April, I will be the Partyka guest artist! For those that don’t know, Partyka is a collective of excellent artists including Shawn Cheng, Matt Wiegle, and John Mejias! I highly recommend you check out there stuff, and consider buying some of their top notch mini-comics (The Monkey & The Crab and The Four Husbands are particular favorites of mine) and other products!

Anyway, they do daily drawings on their front page, and each month they feature a different guest artists. Past guests includes great folks like Eleanor Davis, Chris Wright, and Dustin Harbin! The series of illustrations I did for the site is called “Kaiju Life” and the entire set can be viewed at my guest page. I had a lot of fun with these drawings, and tried to tackle some slightly (and sometimes not-so-slightly) different coloring techniques with each one. Every four days you can check back to see one of mine featured. However, if I were you I’d check back on a regular basis to see what Shawn, Matt, and John are up to as well! Enjoy!

Kaiju Life - Mothra

And, hey, while I’m here, I’d like to mention that the FLUKE mini-comics show (for which I did the poster for this year) will be this weekend, April 4th, in Athens, Georgia. There I will be debuting my new mini-comic, The Late-Night Gang! If you are unable to attend the show, it is also available for purchase online.
