Flight 5 at Newsarama

July 5th, 2008 by Kazu

I just received several copies of Flight 5 in the mail, and the book looks and reads great. Amy and I both think it’s the strongest volume of the series so far, with the artists really maturing as storytellers. If you liked Flight Volume 3, then you’ll probably really enjoy Flight Volume 5, as it is essentially a stronger version of that book.

I’m noticing a pattern, where the even numbered volumes have a softer, more introspective tone, while the odd volumes have more of a sense of adventure and discovery. Makes me wonder what Flight 6 will bring to the table.

Newsarama has posted an interview with me about the book, and they will be posting previews of the material over the course of a few days, so be sure to check in over there. Here are previews featuring the works of Michel Gagné and Paul Rivoche.

  1. [...] Flight, consistently the best anthology around, is releasing Flight 5. You should probably go get that. [...]

If you ask anybody that’s heard my views on the Flight comics, they’d know that Vol.2 is my favorite in terms of charm and the one I read the most, but vol. 3 is the one I love and hoped that Flight 4 would be like. With the news of your observation on the material Kazu, I’m now more psyched than ever to buy the book that I might just pre-order it: something that I’ve never done for a book before.
