Ryan Estrada Day

So. Yesterday was Ryan Estrada Day! To celebrate the launch of the Cartoon Commune website (Ryan and John Campbell’s Mexico-based, full-time comics venture), Ryan decided to draw guest strips for over 30 different webcomics. The man is crazy. And prolific. A not-so-small sampling of some of Ryan’s guest comics are here:

Ugly Hill
Goats
Starslip Crisis
Little Gamers
Overcompensating
Questionable Content
Scary Go Round
Octopus Pie
Yirmumah
Hero By Night
Dr. McNinja
Hatesong
Multiplex
Patches
Sam and Fuzzy
White Ninja
Dinosaur Comics
Wigu
Dueling Analogs
Butternut Squash
Instant Classic
Genrezvous Point
Cosmobear
Rob and Elliot
Butterfly
Scene Language
Joe and Monkey
Cow and Buffalo (pictured above)
Nothing Nice To Say
Joe Loves Crappy Movies
Theater Hopper
Astronaut Elementary
Life Meter

Whew. And I’m almost positive that I missed some strips. A big thanks to Gary over at Fleen, who had done most of the legwork (along with his readers) in culling these links. And don’t forget to check back with RyanEstrada.com, where Ryan will be slowly posting all his guest comics (with commentary) over the course of the next few weeks!

Michel Gagné never ceases to amaze and astound. His latest project is a live shadow puppet/theatrical presentation of Dvorak’s The Spectre’s Bride. From Michel’s website:

This is going to be an amazing show folks! 80+ singers, a 65-piece orchestra and a spectacular shadow puppet show designed by yours truly and perfomed under the supervision of award-winning puppeteer Tim Gosley from Jim Henson’s fame.

This incredible event will take place on October 30th and 31st at the University of Victoria’s Farquhar theater in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Mark [your] calendars.

Michel has more information on The Spectre’s Bride at his website: the official press release and some of his production design samples. For tickets and additional information, visit the official website of The Spectre’s Bride.

A couple of quick links for those of you that missed out on some of the Flight artists’ individual comics and sketchbooks that were available at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con — now you can buy some of them online!

Tony Cliff’s comic, Delilah Dirk and the Treasure of Constantinople.

Reagan Lodge’s 2007 Sketchbook.

Clio Chiang’s sketchbook, No, baby, not my Pradas!!

Becky Cloonan, Vasilis Lolos, Rafael Grampá, Fábio Moon and Gabriel Bá’s comic anthology, 5, is available through Khepri, although they appear to be out of stock at the moment (as is Becky’s self-published anthology, Minis). Best to get on those waiting lists!
