Tuesday, July 31st, 2007 by

There is just no stopping Fábio Moon. His latest comic, Sugarshock, is a mini-series drawn by Fábio and written by none other than Joss Whedon! It is one of four launch stories for the new MySpace/Dark Horse Presents site, which features new monthly comics, all available for free.

Go read Sugarshock now, and then give the rest of the site a look, especially the new Umbrella Academy comic, drawn by Fábio’s twin brother, Gabriel Bá.

The Comics Reporter interviews Graham Annable

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007 by

The Comics Reporter (aka Tom Spurgeon) has a pleasant chat with Graham Annable. An excerpt:

ANNABLE: I always gravitated towards that type of humor my whole life and I suspect it’s genetic. My mother, a very quiet, soft-spoken woman, always seemed to derive great humor from watching people in distress. And by people, I mean usually my father.

Read the full interview here. Hickee #3 is in comic stores now! Everyone should own a copy.

Naoki Urasawa interview

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007 by

Okay, so there are quite a few of us here that are fans of Naoki Urasawa‘s work (Monster, 20th Century Boys), and Matt Forsythe has found a couple videos of Naoki Urasawa both working in and being interviewed in his studio that I just felt I had to share. The interview is in French, but there’s a rough English translation on the right-hand side of the YouTube video page behind the following links:

ComiPress also has a couple of short articles focusing on Urasawa’s professionalism and his relationship with his editors. It quickly becomes apparent that the struggles of a cartoonist are universal.
