The Ride Home: Completed!

That’s right, this is cause for tears, but also celebration! Joey Weiser‘s comic, The Ride Home, has completed its run. This 150-page graphic novel is now available to be read in its entirety online, and all for free! It’s a wonderful story, and you should start reading it here.

 

Winterview #1

The very first Winterview is now online! In it, Winter McCloud (11-year old daughter of Scott McCloud) interviews Dave Roman and Raina Telgemeier, and it is literally the most entertaining interview I have seen in a very long time!

The Word on the Street festival

This Sunday September 24th, the annual Word on the Street festival will be held all across Canada, but of special note, the Halifax Word on the Street will feature a new Cartoonist’s area that will involve presentations, workshops, and Q&A with such artists as Hope Larson, Bryan Lee O’Malley, Seth, Michael Cho, Ryan North, Rebecca Kraatz, and many more! The event will run all day from 11 AM to 5 PM at the Cunard Event Centre on the Halifax waterfront (full details here).

Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender gets a special all-Avatar issue this month! Featuring comics (19 pages worth!) drawn by Justin Ridge (Flight Vol. 2), the magazine has just hit newsstands, so you should head out and grab a copy right now.

The Nickmag Comic LJ community has also posted up the cover image and a preview page online, as well as an in-depth look into the making of one of the many comics, which is well worth the read.

Making Comics Tour Begins!

Making Comics

Scott McCloud’s Making Comics is now available in stores and online. On September 8th, Scott, Ivy, Sky, and Winter McCloud will be hanging out and speaking about the new book and their epic journey across the 50 States (as well as a few Canadian provinces to boot) at Midtown Comics in Manhattan’s Times Square. Be sure to say hello and cheer them on as they continue on their journey! They’ll be at the store from 5 to 7 pm this Friday, Sept. 8th.
