Tuesday, August 23rd, 2005 by KeanFor those of you in the area, Flight 2 artist Johane Matte and future Flight contributor Azad will be at the Toronto Comic Book Expo this weekend (August 26-28) in artist alley, at table A141. They’ll have copies of Flight with them, as well as their own books (Johane’s Horus and Azad’s A Very Sammy Day should not be missed), so if you’re in the area, swing by and say hello!
And I’ll probably be sticking my head in here from time to time, just to make sure that Kazu doesn’t, you know, completely monopolize the Flight blog…
Marathon Preparations
Monday, August 22nd, 2005 by adminWith Flight 3 near completion and Flight 4 looking to be finished by the end of the year, I’m preparing to begin my next adventure with Amulet, my new graphic novel series from Scholastic. Before beginning work on the project, I’ve been developing the story through sketches and research, and I am also setting up my new work environment. It’s been a long time coming, but I finally made the purchase that I’ve been wanting to make for a long time… I bought an Apple Powerbook G4. It’s like having a really cool sword. I’ve had my eye on it for the past three years, but I was hesitant on making the move to Apple. Now it’s done. Feels good.
Joe Ranft (1960-2005)
Sunday, August 21st, 2005 by adminIt came as a shock to hear about the death of Joe Ranft this week. I assume most people wouldn’t know the name, but they all certainly know his work. Joe Ranft was the first head of story at Pixar Animation Studios and is a large part of why their films have been so good. Along with the death of Will Eisner, we have lost two great storytellers in the past year. Ronnie Del Carmen has some nice posts in his blog about Mr. Ranft…
